It is a known fact that breasts are a female symbol. Therefore the size and shape are important since it increases self-confidence in the vast majority of women in almost all cultures.
Breast augmentation is the procedure to increase breast size and correcting a mild degree of breast sagging. It may also balance your body proportions. Clothing may fit better, and you will also feel more confidence and enhance your self-esteem.
Our goal is to augment your breasts to a size which matches your physique and mind while maintaining a natural appearance.
Procedure : Enhance the size and shape of breasts using implants filled with saline or silicone gel. Various incisions and techniques for placing implants (over or under the chest muscle) can be used. Type, size and position of the implants and location of the incisions will depend on many factors such as your original cup size, your desired cup size and your physique, including your chest muscle and rib contour.
All of these factors will be thoroughly discussed before the surgery is performed. After surgery, a small tube for draining fluid will be placed in each breast and a tight bandage will be applied over your breasts for one or two days.
Length : 1 to 2 hours
Anesthesia : General anesthesia
Hospital admission : Usually only one night
Risks and possible complications : Temporary soreness, swelling, change in nipple sensation, bruising, sensitive to stimulation: will last for a few weeks. The formation of scar tissue around the implant (capsular contracture), may cause the breast to feel tight or hard and appear unnatural. Bleeding is usually minimal during the operation. Infection is an uncommon risk. Mammogram requires a special technique.
Recovery : Back to work : a few days. Physical contact with breasts : 3 to 4 weeks. Fading of scars : Several months to a year. Pregnancy /normal breast feeding : after a few months.
Duration of Results : Permanent with sensible diet and exercise.
Post- operative care : Your breasts should be supported at all times including the times you are sleeping, for 1 week (using a sport brassiere or elastic bandage). Do not wear a brassiere with metal wires or stays for 6 weeks. Arm movements should be kept to an absolute minimum during the first 48 hours. No heavy lifting, pushing or driving a car. After 2 weeks, you will be able to resume normal activities with the exception of golf, tennis, swimming, etc. These activities may be resumed in 3 weeks.
Your first appointment will be on the third day after surgery. The elastic bandage will be removed, the wound dressing will be changed and you may be allowed to bathe or shower and have self- wound care as directed. On the seventh day, after surgery, the stitches will be removed and you should start breast massage (moving the implants) as directed, as soon as possible and continue for at least 2 to 3 months to decrease the chance of capsular contracture.
Preparation for surgery : A baseline mammogram is recommended before the surgery and another mammogram should be taken a few months later. This will help to detect any future changes in your breast tissue. Following breast augmentation, you will still be able to perform breast self-examination. Breast enlargement surgery will NOT increase your risk of developing breast cancer.
If you are a smoker, you will be asked to stop smoking well in advance of surgery. Aspirin and certain anti-inflammatory drugs can cause increased bleeding, so you should avoid taking these medications for a period of time before and after surgery.
Inform the surgeon about your medical history (such as diseases, medications and allergies).
